About

I'm a Foundation student in Taylor's College, slowly but surely pursuing my dreams of being a world famous architect.

Residing from Qatar, and being born in Indonesia, I hope to inspire people from around the world with my work.

AboutMe

"ilham"

definition : derived from the Arabic name Ilham, which means "inspiration"

Born in Bandung, Indonesia, and raised in Al Khor, Qatar; I've attended schools all around the world, chasing my ambitions and learning more about myself along the way. 🤠

CREATIVE & CRITICAL THINKING

1

"ME AND MY COUNTRY"

In our first assignment, we were asked to understand and visualize what "me and my country" means to us. We were encouraged to think creatively to gather insights and demonstrate critical and creative thinking.

2

"ONLINE CAMPAIGN : SCARCITY"

In our second assignment, we, as a group, were asked to study, understand and define an assigned topic and visually express our response and exploration.

3

"ONLINE CAMPAIGN : MOCKUPS"

In our third assignment, we were asked to individually develop an online campaign that would respond to a cause that was derived from our previous assignment.

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING

This module aims to develop our basic understanding of various drawings and their importance within the construction industry. It teaches us to explore different types and drawing methods and allows us to understand the importance of visual communication skills.

1

"AEDIFICIUM"

In our first assignment, we were asked to illustrate various drawings effectively to enable visual communication as graphical information.

2

"SPATIUM"

In our second assignment, we, as a group, were asked to create a structure/model and to individually produce a series of scaled drawings utilizing standard drawing techniques and annotations.

"DOMUM"

In our third assignment, we were asked to apply basic principles, conventions, and techniques in producing technical drawings
relevant to the built environment discipline.

INTRODUCTION TO SPATIAL DESIGN

This module introduces students to the fundamental design elements and design principles, principal concepts and vocabularies of architectural and spatial design that cross the boundaries of traditional design disciplines.

1

"DESIGN ELEMENTS"

In our first assignment, we were asked to explore, understand and demonstrate fundamental design elements and principles through three-dimensional forms.

2

"DESIGN PRINCIPLES"

In our second assignment, we, as a group, were asked to understand and apply design principles through a series of exploration and manipulation of design elements.

"SPATIAL EXPLORATION & MANIPULATION"

In our third assignment, we were asked to articulate design ideas and concepts of spatial relationships through manipulation and exploration of spaces within contextual conditions

ARCHITECTURE HISTORY & THEORY

This module aims to enhance students' comprehension of architectural theory by exploring intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language, and contextual relationships.

1

"ANALYSIS REPORT"

In our first assignment, we, as a group, were asked to conduct research and architectural analysis on a selected building within Malaysia.

2

"SKETCHING ANALYSIS"

In our second assignment, we were introduced to visual and critical thinking through learning from precedents with diagramming and introducing the basic principles of form, space and order

"TUTORIAL ACTIVITIES"

Throughout the module, mini tutorial activities were given to test our knowledge of the lectures and also serve as a revision towards our final exam.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION

This module introduces students to the fundamental design elements and design principles, principal concepts and vocabularies of architectural and spatial design that cross the boundaries of traditional design disciplines.

1

"STARCHITECT"

In our first assignment, we were taught to develop freehand drawing skills through a combination of self-expression, natural and man-made object drawing, architectural lettering, tonal values and rendering.

2

"FARNSWORTH"

In our second assignment, we illustrate architectural forms and spaces by visually expressing spatial concepts through manual drawing and interpreting visual information through the analysis of two-dimensional and three-dimensional orthographic drawings.

"INTEGRATION WITH AD1 P3"

For our third assignment, we were asked to produce visual compositions and demonstrate our understanding of visualization and communication of architectural ideas in the form of architectural presentation boards.

3

"TUTORIAL ACTIVITIES"

Throughout the module, mini tutorial activities were given for us to enhance our drawing skills, and serve as a practice for our main assignments.

4

Concrete Architecture

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN I

This module introduces students to fundamental design principles, emphasizing self-expression, anthropometrics, and spatial design through studio exercises and creative activities.

1

"GEOMETRY AND FORM"

In our first project, we, explored diverse approaches in idea generation, rigorous design processes, and design translation through workshop-based learning.

2

(MY BAMBOO)
"STRUCTURE AND BODY"

In our second project, we were introduced to awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics in regard to form and space, providing a foundational understanding of the structure.

"SPACE AND SENSORY"

In our third and final project, we developed conceptual narrative skills, introduced awareness of anthropometrics and ergonomics, applied basic design principles, and considered objective and subjective parameters for practical yet poetic spaces.

3

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN II

This module focuses on design thinking principles, emphasizing the relationship between user and environment, with exercises in space analysis, form exploration, and the design of a small freestanding structure.

1

"DIAGRAMMING ARCHITECTURAL  PRINCIPLES"

In our first project, we researched and studied key architects and their works to learn how to analyze and diagram architectural designs, as well as produce basic compositions using solids, planes, lines, and frames.

2

"NATURE OBSERVATORY POST"

In our second project, we developed the ability to design simple structures using architectonics. We also focused on understanding materiality and detailing to capture and enhance the experiential qualities of the design.

"THE HIDEOUT RETREAT"

In our third and final project, we had to design a simple building that meets user requirements and respects site context that balances both internal and external design values.

3

Wooden Architecture

THEORIES OF ASIAN ARCHITECTURE

This module introduces us to the architectural development of Asia, by learning how history, culture and society affect design and construction methodology.

"COMPILATION"

Here is a compilation of my projects throughout the module:

Construction

BUILDING CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS

This module teaches fundamental building construction and materials for small to medium-scale projects, focusing on substructure and superstructure principles, as well as the properties and applications of concrete, masonry, timber, metal, and glass.

1

"MATERIAL EXPERIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE"

Our first project involved researching the differences between architectural and structural materials, identifying various building materials, and explaining their application in construction.

2

"CONSTRUCTION DETAILS"

For our second assignment, we had to apply our knowledge of structural components and building processes to the simple building designed in ADII P3, to understand the importance of incorporating site factors into the design.
