Overall Reflection

Architectural Design I is the module that really caught my attention this semester, I had very high hopes for this module, and it surely fulfilled it. Architecture is an interest and passion of mine, and finally having a module with "Architecture" in the name got me hyped up, as funny as it sounds. I knew I had to work hard in this module, and I truly did try my best to learn and deliver what I could. This module taught me a lot, it made me feel like a mini architect. It taught me the ideation process, the design process and even the construction process. It taught me important skills an architect would need, such as understanding of spatial configurations, effective communication of design ideas, fundamental design principles, and the ability to work with precision and accuracy in both scale and form.

This module was almost perfect, it almost seems biased. I enjoyed every single lecture to the point that I tried my hardest to attend every single one (not that I don't with other modules :) ). Every teacher was knowledgeable and helpful, they would even give insights out of class timings, and even tutors who weren't even your tutor would be willing to advise on your work.

The learning experience was rocky at first, I wasn't used to the workload they gave us and the pressure of success on our projects; however, over time I did pick up the pace and towards the end, I knew how to manage my time effectively. Initially, I didn't understand the purpose of Project 1, but now that I've completed my final project, I understand the lessons we learned throughout the module. We started with basic design principles and developed into more intricate details. Our second project was my favourite, it felt good to see our designs become reality, and it also felt amazing to create an impact while doing so.

Overall this module has taught me a lot of lessons and skills that I will definitely bring into my future career as an architect. It has enhanced my thinking of expression, emotion and sensorial elements that could be incorporated into a spatial design. I didn't think this was possible at first, but this module has taught me otherwise.
